MAINTENANCE PROGRAMME

Every commercial vehicle operator must have a maintenance programme or schedule for its entire fleet of vehicles and trailers showing at least 6 months forward planning.

Key maintenance dates include;                Periodic Maintenance Inspections (PMI),    Annual Tests (MOT),  Roller Brake Testing (RBT) amongst many others.

Comprehensive planning and ensuring key dates are met is an essential part of a Maintenance Programme.

Failure to provide vehicles or trailers for inspections or Annual tests will be taken very seriously by the DVSA and the Office of the Traffic Commisioner.

Daily Walkaround Checks

Carrying out a comprehensive and documented daily walkaround check is an essential part of any company's vehicle maintenance routine.  It ensures that the vehicle is in a safe and roadworthy condition before it is used on a public road.  Company's must ensure all of their drivers are trained and aware how to carry out a Walkaround Check.
